The background to the case was that the Applicant had been abused by his parents when he was a very young child.
He had been starved, abused and neglected.
The crimes were only reported to the police in 2016 when he was approximately 40 years old. He therefore had only 2 years from the date of reporting the crimes to the police to apply to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority.
He contacted us with one day to spare before the two year time limit was up and therefore 33 Legal urgently dealt with his Application over the telephone and submitted it with only hours to spare.
An offer of £2,000 was made by the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority which 33 Legal vigorously appealed.
We organised a psychological report for the client and after applying for the decision to be reviewed successfully in March 2020 obtained an increased offer to £14,100.
The client was extremely happy with the award and thanked our specialist team for the guidance, support and knowledge needed to obtain an award in this difficult case.
- Initial £2000 CICA Award Appealed
- 33 Legal Submitted Additional Evidence
- Offer increased to £14,000
