This recent CICA Claims case study involved our client (Ms B from Yorkshire) whom had been abused as a child by her grandfather for a period of over 7 years.
She came to 33 Legal to see if she could claim compensation for her ordeal. She had heard our radio advertisement and responded to this via our Text Help service.
We arranged to call our client back the same day to discuss the CICA process and 33 Legal explained how we could help, what the claims process and what would be a likely outcome.
After all these years the client still couldn’t bring herself to report the abuse to the police.
Unfortunately, cases cannot be brought to the CICA without reporting them to the police first. So we offered to take the first step for the client and reported this to the police on her behalf.
Historic abuse can leave many lasting pychological scars and as Criminal Injury Specialists we are particularly sympthateic to the individual needs of all of our clients and how best we can serve and support them through the compensation process.
Once we had reported the incident we were ready to submit the client’s application to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA).
33 Legal submitted the application in October 2019.
Once we had submitted all the evidence the client was given an offer in March 2020.
The client secured an offer of £22,000.00 for the abuse and mental trauma she had suffered as a child.
This offer was a great result and our client accepted the offer. She received her monies in April, only weeks after accepting the offer.
This wasn’t an easy case, like many other historic cases, but it was made so much easier for Ms B. with the assistance of 33 Legal taking that first step of reporting the incident for the client and taking the burden away from her in doing so.
The client was extremely grateful for this and was pleased with the successful outcome of her case.
- Abuse reported to police on clients behalf
- 33 Legal Submitted Additional Evidence Oct 2019
- Offer £22,000 Accepted March 2020
“I would like to thank you all so much. After years of what has been a nightmare for me, I finally feel that what happened to me all those years ago has been vindicated that is because of an advertisement that I followed up. I left a text message and was contacted by Andrew at 33 legal; he was so sensitive he made me feel comfortable straight away. I explained everything the best I could.
Andrew advised that before we could go any further I needed to contact the police. I couldn’t bring myself to do that so Andrew did it for me. Once the police were involved I had contact with Pam and also Hannah, they also where very supportive. I was never pushed or bullied into doing anything, they just supported me all the way on this journey and for that I would like to thank each and every one of them for their help, support, and kindness. And of course for winning my case. Thank you all.”
